What are you waiting for?

Over the past couple of articles, we’ve talked about what happened last year and what I predict is going to happen over the next year.

One common point was the importance of having online marketing as part of your marketing strategy.

I mean, look what happened in 2020.

For years, some thought they could get by without online marketing. They were used to networking events and selling person to person or they were used to going to trade shows and different live shows and selling there.

And to be fair, all these tactics had been around for decades if not centuries.

But then 2020 happened and they were taken away.

Not forever, but for several months now and my guess it will be over a year before they are back.

Yes, there are Zoom meetings but the results aren’t the same. You can sell on Zoom, but it takes different skills to do it effectively and usually it takes more time.

For those businesses that have an online marketing presence and plan, the challenges weren’t as devastating.

So what is your online marketing plan?

Let me give you some advice.

Start with getting the strategy right.

If you find the next shiny button and use it, you may not get what you want.

Develop your strategy and then put in place what you need to execute that strategy.

Start simple.

Don’t try and build a 14-step system that needs 10- landing pages and 25 emails and several other steps in the middle.

Start with one opt-in page and the thank you page and get the email follow-ups (if they’re part of your strategy) in place and build from there.

Now if your eyes glazed over from what you read above, you’ll probably need and want some help.

While I used marketing speak, none of what I wrote is overwhelming.
