Find a Guide to Help You—Step 3

Go Social Experts, located in Eau Claire, WI, offers social media management strategies for Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

As we continue our conversation about what it takes to be successful in marketing your off-line business online, we move to step 3. The overview of what we’re talking about is available here.

Last week, we talked about the fact that as a business owner or manager, you need to know what’s possible. If you missed it, you can read it here.

This week, I want to bring up the idea of finding someone to follow and study with. A guide to help you succeed.

You need to find one person or maybe two people who can guide, teach, and mentor you in these areas.

Make sure this person is, or has been, successful using online marketing for their business.

Many times, people who guide and mentor others have free material online for you to explore. Make sure to sample it and see if you like their style of teaching and if the material makes sense to you.

This is a great way to see if you want to work at a deeper level with someone.

It’s easy to find people to teach you a bit of this and a bit of that for free.

There are, however, challenges with this approach:

  1. It takes a long time. This leads to frustration on your part, and you stop developing your plan.
  2. You get parts that aren’t designed to work together. Sometimes, success requires steps to be implemented in a certain order for them to work.
  3. Some steps get left out. If you don’t know the whole system, you leave out parts that are necessary, or you don’t even know they’re missing.

The above give you a system that works poorly, if at all, and you have no support.

When you find a person to work with and follow, you eliminate these issues and instead receive:

  1. A proven system
  2. All the steps laid out in order
  3. Instructions on how to implement what’s recommended
  4. Access to the person helping you so you can ask questions

To derive these benefits, you might have to spend some money on the trainer. You can find courses online for hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on what you need.

The cheaper courses aren’t always the best deal. If you don’t get what you need from the course, it didn’t save you any money.

I always look at all the courses I purchase as an investment. I’m learning new skills from each course and am able to use these skills for years. I have never invested in a course and then implemented what I learned without making back the cost multiple times.

The secret to making this work is to find a suitable mentor and invest in this person’s teaching. Go deep into the mentor’s teaching and learn everything about it. As you learn and grow, chances are, the mentor will, too.

Find your mentor, learn as much as you can, and see your business grow and change for the better.

Have a great week.
