Just Sell The Darn Thing

Over the past month, I’ve had this conversation several times.

A new client approaches me that wants help with Facebook ads for their online program.

They’ve tried Facebook and haven’t gotten the results they wanted.

As we talk, I discover that they’re an avid student of online marketing and they’ve bought courses from most of the big name marketing people. Sometimes they’ve invested many thousands of dollars in them and they’ve actually studied them and implemented much of what they learned… to a point.

They know what to do and can talk about it, they just aren’t doing it.

They think that one more course will give them what they need to sell it.

If they just knew Facebook ads a little better…

Or . . .

If they just got the landing page copy a little better…

Or

If they were just a little better on video…

Or . . .

And all they’re doing is spinning their wheels.

Many of these people already have an audience that knows, likes and trusts them.

Now they may have a few hundred to a few thousand people, not 10s of thousands or 100s of thousands, but enough to sell their course too.

What happens though, is that they’re wanting to make a big splash and sell 100s or thousands of their product the first time out. Which means anything less is a failure.

That’s too bad because most of them have invested much of their savings into this effort and are generating very little (if any) income.

If they launched to their audience of 2000 people and sold 1 % that is 20 items sold. If they’re selling a $997 product that is $20,000. That’s not a bad days work.

No, it’s not a 7 figure launch. But do you think the big marketers did a 7 figure launch the first time they tried?

I’ve been around long enough to have seen some of their first attempts and I can assure you that they didn’t do that well.

But they did sell products. They got some momentum and cash and kept going. And then each time they tried they got better results.

I get it. It’s scary putting yourself out in front of the public selling something, but until you do you won’t know if you’re on the right track.

Don’t spend all your time learning and then not implementing.

And when I say implementing, I mean getting to the sale.

If no one wants to buy your product you’re wasting your time pursuing this particular offer.

Yes, the lessons you learn can help you with your next product. But you don’t have the money anymore and the number one cause of business failure is lack of capital.

Learn what you need to know to launch your product in some manner and then make adjustments as you go.

Making sure you have a steady incoming flow of cash is critical if you want to move forward.

For those starting online marketing with the luxury of an existing business funding it, this will be easier. But for those of you where this is your only business, you’ve got to be mindful of how much cash you’re generating.

It does take time and investment to get your business going. Make sure you budget for it and then get started.

Until you’re generating sales you don’t have a business. You have a hobby and online marketing can get expensive fast if you don’t have an item to sell to cover your costs.

Get your product out into the world and put it up for sale.

You may not think you’re ready, but then again you may never feel you’re ready.

Go out and sell.

Have a great day!

Brian
