And The Best Facebook Strategy Is…

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you’ve heard me talk about different Facebook strategies that work. And if you’ve been following others you’ll have seen many other options and ideas.

What do all of these have in common?

They all work for someone.

But they don’t all work for everyone.

The best Facebook strategy for YOU depends on two things.

  1. What do you like to do?
    1. What are you willing to do?
  2. What gets YOU the results YOU want.

Let’s go into detail about each of these.

What do you like to do? What are you willing to do?

Let’s face it, not everyone likes to do the same thing. I like to go on long runs, my wife would prefer a brisk walk instead.

On Facebook, it’s the same. Some people love taking pictures and writing about them and others love creating videos, while others prefer short text updates. Others love telling stories with pictures and will spend hours getting the perfect shot and filters for their posts.

You get the idea.

What do you like to do?

Any strategy that involves you doing something you don’t like to do is doomed to failure. After all, if being on video is torture for you how often are you going to do it and how good will you really be at it?

If the idea of using words to describe your photos in addition to your photo, exhausts you, the likelihood of you posting consistently is slim.

Now sometimes you can convince yourself to do something you’re not comfortable with and get good at it. Maybe you can even grow to like it and that’s fine. This is what you’re willing to do.

When you fit your strategy into what you like to do and are willing to do, you’re going to have a better chance of success. You’ll try. You’ll learn. And you’ll adjust and keep moving forward vs. running into a challenge that makes you throw up your hands and say Facebook and online marketing doesn’t work.

What gets YOU the results YOU want.

As business owners, we get to create the business we want. Not everyone realizes this, but if you own the business you created it the way it is. And if you don’t like it you can change it.

If your strategy requires you to travel around the country to meet with clients and you don’t like to travel, you’re not going to enjoy what you’re doing and it’s going to show.

Or if your strategy requires you to stay in one location to work, and you want to be location independent you’re going to feel trapped and antsy.

Or if you have to spend hours on live presentations and you want more freedom, you’re always going to be watching the clock and hoping to ‘get it over with’.

When you’re getting started it’s easy to say, I will do whatever it takes to be successful. That is great. But after months or years of doing something you don’t enjoy; it’s going to cause resentment.

It’s important that your strategy gets you results, but that it does it in a way that you enjoy.
