What Do Growing Businesses Have In Common?

Blog Post 11.21.17

In my last article, I asked the question “How do you Keep Up?” If you missed it you can click here to read it.

Learning is one of the things that growing businesses should be doing, but . . .

If all a business owner does is learn about what is new and doesn’t implement what they learn, nothing will change.

What matters is the implementation.

Now a word of warning. . .

In the past when I went to live events, I felt that I had to get as many ideas as I could out of the event, in order to get my money’s worth from the event.

You know I’m a Midwestern guy and Midwesterners hate wasting anything.

Off to an event I would go, and I would return with 50 things to do, all of them being a number one priority.

And guess what happened?

That’s right, maybe one or two would get implemented, but the rest would still be sitting on my list months later, and then I was off to yet another event.

I got frustrated with this happening, so I started prioritizing what I was going to do first, second, and so on. This helped get more done, but I still was frustrated by my list of unfinished tasks.

As a result of my prioritization, my business was now growing and thriving. So what I was doing was helping me get better results.

After the last event I attended, I came home with one page of to-do items, about 10 items in total.

This was from a 4-day event.

I got started on them right away, and they are well on their way to being completed.

My business is improving, I feel good about what I accomplished, and when I go to another event I’m in a much better place to implement next level strategies.

You see, you can only implement what you’re ready for, and the way you improve your skills is by applying what you learn.

The more you apply, the greater your skills are, and the more you can implement.

Make sure you’re keeping up with what is new and relevant, and then schedule a time to implement the most important tasks.

The more you implement the stronger the foundation you have to work from, and the more you can build your business.

By the way, this is also why when you go through a program and implement what you can from it, and then go back through it again, you’re going to find more information you didn’t hear or see the first time.

The information was there the first time, but you weren’t ready to hear it.

Any time you find a valuable program, book, or podcast; make sure to go through it multiple times.

Implementing new ideas and processes into your business is one of the hallmarks of a successful business.

If you look at the times your business has grown the most, you’ll find that it often happens at the times when there was change happening.

Be the one initiating that change and thus controlling your own growth.
